San Felice di OcreThis locality has been known since 1280 (as it appears from a will by Iacopo di Simone d'Ocre to his church) and is mentioned in the 14th century as Casale di S. Fele (by Antinori). The most astonishing buildings in the inhabited area are the Palazzo of the Bonanni barons and the imposing structure of the parish of the San Giacomo Maggiore, bare and solemn. This church was known since the end of the 13th century and is characterized by 18th and 19th century restructuring (ended in 1843 as confirmed by the inscription on the frontal arch inside the church). The spacious internal area is typified by three arches on each side, each containing an altar. The masterpieces on canvas represent an Immaculate Conception and a Trinity with a Mary in grief and Purgatory souls signed and dated B. Ciferri 1746. Behind the main altar is the magnificent masterpiece of the Mary in Glory with Saint Anthony and Saint James estimated to be dated between the 16th and 17th century by local author of Venetian school. |
