Mushrooming Excursions given at Monastery of Santo Spirito.Given by the Monastery of Santo Spirito accommodations. What's more inviting than strolling through the dew-laden woods of an Italian forest? Taking time to unearth edible wild mushrooms, of course. Under an expert's attentive guidance, participants in this course will roam the wooded copses surrounding Santo Spirito and harvest baskets full of mushrooms, learning to identify our area's most prized fragrant fungi. A mid-day break for a light lunch-consisting of pungent local cheeses, flavorful ham, crisp salad, fresh-baked bread, mineral water and a glass of hearty local red wine-complement the outing (additional food and beverages can be purchased separately). This course will accommodate a minimum of 2 people and a maximum of 8.In the areas characterized by meadows, among the edible mushrooms the most outstanding are the Prataiolo (Psalliota pratensis) the Vescia (licopordon) and the Mazza di tamburo (drumsticks).
